Norwich University Remembers Cadets Alyson Jaspe Diamond Shepherd and Daniel Bermudez for Their Dedication, Friendship, and Service Aspirations
On October 16, 2026, the Norwich University community honored Cadets Alyson Jaspe Diamond Shepherd and Daniel Bermudez, who passed before receiving their class rings.
Jaspe showed remarkable determination by returning the following year to complete Rookdom after being unable to finish with the original class.
Friends remember Jaspe as an incredible friend, devoted roommate, cheer captain, and valued community member who made Norwich feel like home.
Bermudez was a freshman in the Corps of Cadets, studied Criminal Justice, and served with Bravo Company, 1st Platoon.
Bermudez hoped to join the United States Marine Corps and earn the title of Marine.
Friends and fellow cadets remember Bermudez for an outgoing personality, warm humor, and an enduring ability to bring energy and laughter to the platoon.
Both cadets embodied Norwich’s citizen-soldier tradition and built friendships that will remain part of the university community.
