Chicago Student Terron Frieson Dies at 15 Weeks After Birthday in Altgeld Gardens

Terron Frieson, a 15-year-old student remembered as quiet, dedicated to learning, and committed to attending school, died Thursday night in Altgeld Gardens on Chicago’s Far South Side.

Officers responded near 131st Street and St. Lawrence Avenue at approximately 10:52 p.m. and found Terron with multiple injuries.

Emergency responders transported Terron to Christ Medical Center, where doctors pronounced the teenager dead a short time later.

Terron had celebrated a 15th birthday only last month, an occasion that family and friends viewed as the beginning of a promising new chapter.

People who knew Terron described a reserved young person who enjoyed learning, kept to themself, and avoided trouble.

Authorities said at least one person approached Terron outside, fired several times, and fled on foot.

No arrests have been announced, and Area Two detectives continue to investigate the circumstances.

The loss has deeply affected Terron’s family, friends, classmates, and neighbors throughout the Altgeld Gardens community.
